BOOK 1: LATE ELEMENTARY
Book 1 includes works by Bartók, Berens, Beyer, Bolck, Diabelli, Duvernoy, Köhler, Gurlitt, Reinagle, Schytte, Türk, among many others.
The pieces are in simple meters with an introduction to compound.
Eighth notes and dotted quarter notes are prominent.
Compositions stay in the keys of C, G, and F major, as well as A minor.
A gentle approach to introducing counterpoint and a focus on developing both hands equally.
BOOK 2: LATE ELEMENTARY TO EARLY INTERMEDIATE
Book 2 includes works by J.C. Bach, Beethoven, Biehl, Burgmüller, Czerny, Diabelli, Gurlitt, Haydn, Hook, Mozart, Streabbog, among many others.
New keys of D minor and D major
Introduces inversions and the V7 in root position
Rhythm includes triplets, sixteenths, and dotted eighth to sixteenth. Cut time and compound meters are common.
Broken chord accompaniments, alberti, singing in the LH, cross overs, grace notes, ledger lines
Introduction to passage work and speed, voicing, scales
Continued development of counterpoint and equal playing between both hands
BOOK 3: EARLY INTERMEDIATE
Book 3 includes works by Attwood, Beethoven, Biehl, Burgmüller, Clementi, Handel, Mozart, Schumann, and Spindler.
More work on D major and minor. New keys of G minor, B flat major, E minor, and A major
